Help With Making Masks

Donating and Making Masks

Salem Hospital is accepting donations of commercially made masks. These donations can be dropped off at the loading dock on the south side of Building B, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Staff will be ready to accept your donation.

Until our country ramps up production of masks, both N95 and simple sneeze masks for the general public, we will need to make some of our own. Below is a link to different materials and their effectiveness, as well as plans for sewing masks if you want to aid in growing our local supply. Tea towels, cotton, and vacuum bags are just some of the materials you can use, with varying degrees of effectiveness.

There is a group formed call the Salem Area Maskers Network that is coordinating mask-making and safe distribution efforts. If you are interested in joining this group, email K at chris@happydoc.org
