New COVID shots!
9/2025 - The FDA recommends COVID vaccines for everyone age 65 and older, and for younger people with any of these conditions:
physically inactive
obesity
depression or other mental health conditions
asthma or other lung condition
current or former smoker
diabetes
any cardiovascular condition (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease)
any kidney condition
disabilities, including Down Syndrome
The criteria are broad enough that almost anyone who wants a COVID vaccine is eligible for one.
The question is whether insurance will pay for the vaccine like they have in the past. This will depend on recommendations from ACIP, a government body that decides who should get vaccines, and their next meeting is Sept 18-19.
Bottom line: If you want a COVID vaccine, you can likely get one. We have vaccines in stock for adults and kids over 12 years old. Text or call us to schedule it. We’ll be giving vaccines Friday, 9/5 from 4-6pm, and can schedule a different time if needed.
We expect most insurance companies to pay for COVID vaccines, but do not know for sure. You can call your insurance to ask. If your insurance does not cover it, the cost is $135. Providence has confirmed they are paying for COVID vaccines 100% this year.
For kids ages 5-11: only eligible if they have an underlying medical condition. We anticipate having limited supply of this vaccine in late September.
For kids ages 6 months - 4 years old: only eligible if they have an underlying medical condition. We do not expect to carry this vaccine this fall, but Sprout Pediatrics might.
We also have flu vaccines in stock and you can get one at the same time as your COVID shot.
At this time we are only offering COVID vaccines to Happy Doc patients.
